I love the show Jon and Kate plus eight. The children are adorable and the family is a tight-knit unit. Throughout the show Jon and Kate have made it clear that they did NOT intend or even want eight children. As Kate says in one of the beginning episodes "You do invetro to have one baby...some people don't even get that. But, we were the exception." They discussed the day they found out Kate was pregnant with eight children as "one of the worst days of their lives." They refused to do reduction and with 2 year-old twin girls at home, were terrified that they had ruined all their lives. They make it work day by day and obviously not without the help of many, many people! They give back what they receive and never take for granted the opportunities they are presented with.
On my way to class this morning I heard the single mom of the octuplets in a radio interview explaining that she was setting up a website for people to donate money to her. Now, she ALREADY had six children when did invetro AGAIN and got the eight. For her to whine about how she is single and can't make ends meet doesn't add up to me. Invetro is an incredibly expensive procedure! I think she is a self-ish, self-serving women. I truely believed she had all these children for publicity. Whenever I see a commerical for Jon and Kate plus eight or watch the show I can't help but think "Ahhh fun! They have such a neat life!" But I am also a child-less 20 year old and accept that children are more fun on T.V. than in real life. I struggle get grocieries and pay rent each month and I'm only responsible for me! I can't imagine the fear and stress knowing that you were going to have eight babies would bring about.
But I have no pity for this women-She is irresponsible and if she receives ANY help it should be strictly for the childrens sake because they didn't ask to be born to crazy-pants.
