In the wake of the Micheal Phelps pot-smoking scandal it seems as though the super-swimmer is in the clear. So far, two of his sponsors-Speed0 and Omega agreed to stand by Phelps. I loved him just as much as the rest of the country. Having our very own superhero was great. But now...I'd like to see him bite it.
This isn't the first "mistake" that Phelps has made in his career. In 2004 the then 19 year old Phelps was arrested for drunk driving. Now, I understand being young and dumb and sure, at 19 that excuse will work for you. But when you are a 23 year-old grown man dabbling in an illegal drug that excuse will not hold (bong) water. You can't tell me that he wasn't aware that other people were around, recognizing who he is. The Olympic committee gave him a pass and it seems all of this will "blow over" for Phelps. How much will we let him pass on before he loses his "Boy Wonder" quality???
