In the past week I have gone to both "I love you, man" & "Observe and Report." I love funny/dumb movies and was looking forward to the people who were in both films. I love Seth Rogen, Anna Farris, Jason Segel and Paul Rudd!
"I love you, man" was a comedy about a guy who has always had just girlfriends and has failed to make any male friends. He is sweet, responsible and kind of a push-over goody-two shoes when he meets a wild, crazy bachelor who lives an intriguing and exotic lifestyle. Hilarity ensues as they bond and Paul Rudd's character find out what it means to be "one of the guys." I really liked this movie. It was funny and cute. I hated Jason Segel in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (I hated the movie too, but his nakedness pushed me over the edge) and he really redeemed himself here. Paul Rudd is always funny, even when he's playing the "straight man." Overall it was a good movie to see if you just want to laugh!!
"Observe and Report" is about a slightly mentally ill security officer in a mall who has a "hero" complex. He wants to be a police officer and is drunk with power in his security officer position. He has a crush on a women who works at the make-up counter, she is trashy and shallow. A streaker strikes the mall and he makes it his mission to bring the assaliat to justice. He does all this while trying to get the girl, get accepted into the Police Academy. Seth Rogen is generally funny but this movie had too many f-bombs for me. It went past trying to be funny and hit a point where it was just vulgar. The movie had potential to be funny but it quickly becomes dark and hard to follow. It takes a turn for the worse in the end where there is graphic violence and much male-frontal full nudity. I did not enjoy this film!!
